First Year Ambassador

The BCIT Accounting Association is seeking highly ambitious first-year students with strong interpersonal skills and an outgoing attitude. The First Year Ambassador is the main connection between new accounting students and the BCIT Accounting Association. This position will allow you to experience what it is like being a club member and to help you see if you would be interested in an executive role in the future. You will be frequently communicating with your peers and teachers to help advertise and promote club events. It is important to work closely with the rest of the team to ensure all events run smoothly.

Responsibilities:

• Work with teachers to coordinate presentations for first year accounting students to advertise club events.

• Relay any questions your peers may have about networking events or career opportunities.

• Must be prepared to engage in public speaking either over zoom or in-person.

• Attend all BCITAA club meetings and help provide feedback and discussion.

CPA

AMBASSADOR

The CPA Ambassador is the main connection between CPABC and BCIT. It is the responsibility of the CPA Ambassador to ensure all sponsorship requirements are met and that the students are informed on the different paths they can take to become a CPA. You will get the opportunity to volunteer for CPABC, assisting them with answering any questions interested students may have.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with CPA to ensure that all sponsorship requirements are met.

  • Respond to any questions or concerns from the CPA to the rest of the executives.

  • Learn about the different paths an accountant can take to acquire their CPA.

  • Volunteer and spread awareness about the CPA routes.

  • Attend all BCITAA club meetings and help provide feedback and discussion.

  • Attend all CPA Ambassador meetings.

  • Must be prepared to engage in public speaking either over Zoom or in person

DIRECTOR OF

INTERNAL RELATIONS

The BCIT Accounting Association is responsible for informing students of upcoming events and all BCITAA/Accounting news as well as establishing a long-lasting relationship with instructors to help prepare the necessary information for all BCIT students. In this position, you will be sending out emails on a regular basis and helping organize and set up events. It is important to keep close relationships with students and faculty to ensure that they are well-informed.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and send out email blasts to inform students of upcoming opportunities.

  • Attend all BCITAA club meetings and create meeting minutes for all things discussed.

  • Answer any emails from students and/or faculty in a timely manner.

  • Set up student registration forms on Eventbrite or Google Forms

  • Operate and manage the club calendar.

  • Must be prepared to engage in public speaking either over Zoom or in person.

  • Send out reminders to attendees prior to events.

  • Attend all BCITAA club meetings and help provide feedback and discussion.

DIRECTOR OF

EXTERNAL RELATIONS

The BCIT Accounting Association is responsible for informing students of upcoming events and all BCITAA/Accounting news as well as establishing a long-lasting relationship with instructors to help spread the necessary information to all BCIT students. In this position, you will be sending out emails regularly and helping organize and set up events. It is important to keep close relationships with students and faculty to ensure that they are well-informed.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for both firms and recruiters.

  • Respond within 24 hours to emails and direct any information to the BCITAA club members.

  • Build relationships with firm representatives and other school’s accounting clubs.

  • Work closely with the President and Event Coordinators to organize events.

  • Work with the President and Director of Finance during sponsorship season to send out packages to potential sponsors.

  • Work with the President to help set the overall club strategy for the year.

  • Must be prepared to engage in public speaking either over Zoom or in-person.

  • Attend all BCITAA club meetings and help provide feedback and discussion.

DIRECTOR OF

MARKETING

The BCIT Accounting Association is looking for a creative individual who enjoys thinking outside the box. The Director of Marketing must possess strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills as they are regularly in contact with students and BCIT faculty. The main priority is to ensure that all events are promoted in refreshing and innovative ways to ensure the success of all BCITAA activities. The Director of Marketing must be a dedicated individual who believes in the club’s vision and actively finds new ways to increase interest in the club.

Responsibilities:

  • Consistently post content on the BCITAA’s Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn accounts

  • Regularly update and control the BCITAA’s website.

  • Work closely with the Director of Internal Relations to coordinate promotions to students.

  • Work closely with the President and Director of External Relations as they are the main points of contact for firm representatives and will pass on necessary event information.

  • Must be prepared to engage in public speaking either over Zoom or in person.

  • Build relationships with the Financial Management students to have a more engaging platform by uncovering needs and wants.

  • Take photographs for all BCITAA club events.

  • Attend all BCITAA club meetings and help provide feedback and discussion.

  • Ability to use marketing software for event promotions (Photoshop, Canva, etc.).

  • Ability to use Squarespace to edit and update the BCITAA website.

  • Be creative, innovative and tech savvy.

EVENTS

COORDINATOR

The BCIT Accounting Association is seeking a highly responsible student who possesses strong organizational and time-management skills. It is the responsibility of the Events Coordinator to create and plan out all the BCITAA events and ensure that they run smoothly. They must be prepared to take the initiative and conduct various tasks when needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the President and other executives to plan out and create events.

  • Brainstorm ideas for new events.

  • Create and run any virtual platforms for events.

  • Reach out to businesses to ask for promotional items as freebies or prizes.

  • Set up catering and room bookings.

  • Must be prepared to engage in public speaking either over Zoom or in-person.

  • Attend all BCITAA club meetings and help provide feedback and discussion.

TAX CLINIC

COORDINATOR

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference. The BCIT Accounting Association is seeking a highly responsible student who possesses strong organizational and time-management skills. It is the responsibility of the Tax Clinic Coordinator to provide students with the opportunity to become a tax preparer and assist the public. They must be prepared to take the initiative and carry out various tasks when needed.

Responsibilities:  

  • Work with the President and Events Coordinators to plan out the tax sessions. 

  • Brainstorm ideas for various events hosted by the club.

  • Create schedules for student volunteers.

  • Provide information for both the public and students regarding the Tax Clinic.

  • Prescreen applications for the individual’s eligibility to receive free tax services.

  • Book rooms and order catering for volunteers.

  • Must be prepared to engage in public speaking.

  • Organize and prepare PowerPoint slides for the training session.

  • Attend all BCITAA club meetings and help provide feedback and discussion.
